Ilyssa states, "Otsego County Economic Development was an integral part of our business start-up and one of the reasons we actually decided to locate our business in Otsego County.  Otsego County is a wonderful place to have an agricultural business, but small-scale family farming is a very difficult business to establish and succeed at without financial resources.  We were encouraged by the Program's support and understanding of new agricultural ventures and the unique problems that face a farming business as opposed to what people think of as a "typical" business.  They understood that a business like ours was and is an asset to the community.  Although, we were "cash poor," short on assets, and had never before run a business, we had a strategy for starting and building the business and we invested a lot of enthusiam, will-power, and thousands of hours in "sweat equity."  The loan we received from OCDC helped us to finish constructing and outfit our on-farm milk processing facility with the equipment we needed.
