Mark Drnek, was in his mid-fifties when he left a relatively comfortable salary on the table and began the pursuit of a “last chapter.”
As he describes it, with not much more than a decade left in his career, he felt that it was time to make a positive and (hopefully) lasting impact in the community. Thanks to the support of advocates like Rob Robinson of the Otsego County Chamber, Doug Gulotty at Wilber Bank, and Carolyn Lewis of the Otsego County Economic Development Agency, loans were secured at low interest and helpful payment timelines were established.
On August 15, 2007 Sweet Home Productions opened the doors of the old Oneonta VFW at 97 Main Street to neighbors, agencies and businesses. Its first priority was the creation of a locally oriented Sweet Home Careers magazine and web site, designed to provide assistance and resources to the emerging and returning workforce in our area.
Schools, colleges, business and government agencies throughout the 4-counties have applauded this twin-publication. Many have added it to their repertoire as a unique tool in working with young adults and would-be entrepreneurs. (more....)
