Demographic Information
Otsego County benefits from a diverse population for a relatively rural area. The County extends across 1002.8 square miles, with a density of approximately 61.5 persons per square mile. It is anchored by the City of Oneonta in the south-central portion of the County, along the Susquehanna River. The small City of Oneonta quickly filters out to suburbs and farmlands across the remainder of the area, with a sprinkling of charming villages and hamlets. The County's colleges, Hartwick College and the State University of New York at Oneonta, bring an infusion of culture and youth to the region.
